Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does this program have a cost?
A: No. Families will only pay the same student supply fee required for all K–6 students in Cabot Public Schools.
Q: Do we need to purchase a Chromebook?
A: No. All students will be issued a Chromebook by the district.
Q: Who will provide the curriculum?
A: Cabot Public Schools will provide the curriculum and instructional materials.
Q: How much time will students spend on a Chromebook each day?
A: Our goal is for less than 15% of the average school day to be spent on a device while students are on campus. Families will have more flexibility in how technology is used during at-home learning days.

A: Yes. Students will have opportunities to interact with traditional Magness Creek students, although those interactions may vary depending on final schedules and activities.
Q: Can students with IEPs participate in the hybrid program?
A: Yes. However, all placement and service decisions will be made by the student’s IEP team to ensure the learning environment is appropriate for each student’s individual needs.
Q: Can families choose which days their student attends school?
A: We will seek input from families regarding schedule preferences. However, final scheduling decisions will be made based on overall program needs and efficiency.
Q: Is this program only available to students zoned for Magness Creek Elementary?
A: No. This program is open to any K–6 student who is registered with Cabot Public Schools.
Q: Can parents develop additional activities or assignments for students to complete at home?
A: Yes. Families are encouraged to enrich and personalize learning opportunities at home in ways that best support their child’s needs and interests.
Q: We currently homeschool and participate in the EFA program. Will enrollment impact that participation?
A: Yes. However, as EFA guidance and regulations are subject to change, families are encouraged to contact DESE directly regarding how participation in this program may affect EFA eligibility.
Q: What will student-to-teacher ratios look like?
A: Class sizes will follow the same general ratios as other K–6 classrooms in Cabot Public Schools. Maximum class sizes will typically range from 20–28 students depending on grade level.
Q: Will kindergarten students be grouped with older students?
A: More than likely, yes. In order to maintain flexibility and efficiency within the program, some classes may include students from multiple, closely and appropriately related grade levels.
