CHS Senior Elected American Legion AR Boys Nation Senator

June 26, 2018

An upcoming Cabot High School senior will soon be on his way to our nation's capital.

Alex Hopper recently attended Boys State at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway.  He was one of only two out of 538 students elected an American Legion Arkansas Boys Nation senator.  Alex will be traveling to Washington, D.C. in July to represent Arkansas at Boys Nation 2018.

Alex gave a speech on “The Guardian Angel Act” which proposes to raise funds for mental health organizations, suicidal prevention organizations, and teach people how to approach suicidal situations. Alex plans to make this proposal to the Arkansas Legislature and at the federal level.

Alex is a CHS AFJROTC cadet and was also recently selected to attend the Aerospace Science and Cadet Leadership Course in Bossier Parish where he graduated as a Distinguished Graduate. He was also chosen to attend a summer seminar at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland.

Alex is a member of the American Legion Post 71's Sons of American Legion chapter. He is eligible because his grandfather and great-grandfather served in the military.

Congratulations Alex Hopper on all your achievements this summer!
