Cabot Scholarship Foundation Banquet
May 3, 2012
The Cabot Scholarship Foundation "Roast & Toast" Banquet was recently held and awarded 67 outstanding seniors with scholarships for college, scholarships totaling $70,800.
The Cabot Scholarship Foundation, a non-profit organization, was formed in 1992 by the Cabot Centennial Committee, to encourage and recognize academics in Cabot schools.
The Scholarships come from people that live in and support the community. The donors usually set up the scholarships in honor of someone or in memory of someone. Those donors make the foundation such a success.
The foundation held its first "Roast & Toast" fundraiser in 1996. This years "Roast & Toast" honoree was Mike Verkler. Mike is a long time resident of the Cabot area and retired from the Little Rock Police Department after 27 years. For 21 of the 27 years Mike served as the lead police escort for the Arkansas Razorbacks and for the President Clinton motorcade detail during President Clinton's two terns in office.
Mike was roasted by fellow friends Mike Davis, Dwayne Yarbroug, Val Hansen, and Anthony Lucas.
