Cabot Panther Foundation Inducts two honorees into “Hall of Fame�

Two outstanding community leaders and graduates of Cabot High School will be inducted into the Cabot Panther Foundation's, “Hall of Fame,” Tuesday night.  

Mr. Will Feland and Dr. James Hertzog are being honored for their distinguished service to the Cabot school system, community and professional achievements.

Mr. Feland graduated from Cabot High School in 1970.  He received a Master of Science Degree from the University of Arkansas in 1974 and attended UALR Law, graduating with high honors in 1976. After law school, Mr. Feland worked as a legislative aide to Senator David Pryor for two years.

In 1982, Mr. Feland was elected to the Cabot School District Board of Education and served two terms as president.  He served as Lonoke County Prosecuting Attorney from 1986-1992 and was appointed by Governor Mike Beebe to complete terms for outgoing positions.

Mr. Feland serves his community and dedicates his time to the Lonoke County Exceptional School where he is a board member and current president; he also serves on the board at Centennial Bank and numerous other organizations.  In 2014, the Will Feland Scholarship was established through the Cabot Scholarship Foundation in honor of his dedication to education and community.

In 1994, Mr. Feland founded Pinnacle Structures, Inc., a pre-engineered metal building manufacturing company.  Pinnacle Structures employs approximately 100 employees, and through their generosity, they support the Cabot School District and Lonoke County charities.

Mr. Feland has two grown children, who attended Cabot Schools, and one granddaughter.

Dr. James Hertzog is a 1997 graduate of Cabot High School. He continued his education at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro graduating in 2001 and attended Southern College of Optometry graduating Cum Laude in 2006.  Dr. Hertzog worked in Memphis, TN and Searcy, AR before returning to Cabot to open his practice in 2010.

Dr. Hertzog was named the Youngest Optometrist of the Year for 2010-2011 by the Arkansas Optometric Association.  He was appointed by ArOA as a Medicaid Vision consultant for the state of Arkansas in 2010.

Dr. Hertzog and his practice, Hertzog Family Eye Care, were named the 2013 Cabot Chamber of Commerce Business of the Year.

Dr. Hertzog dedicates much of his time to service in many organizations.  He serves as the Vice President of the Cabot Lions Club, board member for the Cabot Chamber of Commerce, board member of the AR Lions Eye Bank & Laboratory Endowment Fund, and volunteers for Special Olympics of Arkansas, where he performs eye exams at their summer programs.

Dr. Hertzog and his wife Charity have three young boys who are beginning to enter the Cabot School District.

The Hall of Fame Banquet will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Cabot Freshman Academy.  THV 11's Tom Brannon, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2012, will serve as the emcee.

Larry Lacewell, former Arkansas State University coach and Director of Scouting for the Dallas Cowboys will be the guest speaker.
