Ward Central Elementary has been under construction while renovations were made to create additional parking spaces and expand the cafeteria.
The front and back driveways were redesigned for better stacking and traffic flow. Fifty new parking spaces were created in this restructuring, and a canopy was installed in the bus drop off area.
The cafeteria received a beautiful expansion of 2080 square feet, which increased the natural light in the cafeteria and will seat an additional 150 students.
A ribbon cutting was held recently to unveil the updated facility, and students, school board members and administrators, and city officials were in attendance. Ward K-Kids (Kiwanis Youth Club) students opened the ceremony. Julia Trejo-Trejo lead everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance and Garrett Langer thanked the school board members and administration for the improvements.
Superintendent Dr. Thurman and Ward Mayor Art Brooke spoke about the success of our schools and community as we work together. The faculty, staff, and students are excited about the expansion and are enjoying the renovations!
