Did you know your student could be part of the long history of academic excellence even if you don't live in the district? With the Public School Choice Act, students in other districts may be eligible to enroll in the Cabot School District.
The Cabot School District is the seventh largest district in the state with approximately 10,500 students (PK-12 grade) and 18 campuses. The district encompasses must of northwest Lonoke County and includes the cities of Cabot, Austin, and Ward. The district is the heart-beat of this community and is the largest employer in Lonoke County with over 1,500 staff members.
With exceptional test scores, remarkable faculty, and first-class facilities, it is easy to see why so many new families, especially military families, join our district each year.
In fact, our schools were the first in Arkansas to be designated Purple Star Schools by the Arkansas Department of Education for their commitment to supporting and serving military families.
The Cabot School District is comprised of nine exceptional elementary schools (K-4), two nationally-recognized middle schools (5-6), two outstanding junior high schools (7-8), a Freshman Academy that is dedicated solely to 9th graders (9), and a high school that is repeatedly ranked one of the best in the state and in the nation (10-12). Our schools are consistently recognized for academic achievements as well as for supporting the needs of all of our students.
The Cabot School District is also home to our award-winning conversion charter school (7-12). The Cabot Panther Academy offers a unique blended learning environment and digital school approach. As an alternative to the traditional academic setting, the online curriculum allows students flexibility, to work at their own pace, and in a much smaller learning environment with access to certified educators. Even if you are homeschooling, the Cabot Panther Academy may be the perfect fit for your student. The Cabot Panther Academy also offers a completely virtual option for 7-12 students living in the Cabot School District.
Cabot High School has been designated a School of Innovation for its commitment to transform teaching, learning, and exploring new and creative ways to improve the academic performance of all students. Cabot High School was also named the 2022-2023 7A Central Academic Champions for receiving the highest ACT Aspire scores in every tested area: Math, Reading, English, and Science! For two years in a row, Cabot High School has also been named as one of the Best High Schools in the state and nation by U.S News & World Report.
Cabot High School also offers one of the best Career and Technical Education programs in the state. Within these 12 programs, agriculture, auto technology, AFJROTC, broadcasting, business, construction, criminal justice, Environmental and Spatial Technology (EAST), engineering, Family and Consumer Sciences (FACS), Jobs for Americas Graduates (JAG), and our medical academy, we offer 23 different pathways and over 85 CTE courses and labs that help prepare students for their future.
Students also have the opportunity to choose from more than 160 electives, including our award-winning forensics, debate, theater, dance, stagecraft, choir, and marching band. In fact, the Cabot Marching Band is the largest high school marching band in the state and our Fine Arts program is recognized as one of the best comprehensive programs in the state.
Students also participate in a dynamic athletic program. Cabot athletes compete in the 7A/6A Central Conference, the largest conference in the state. Cabot has 81 teams in 15 competitive fields of sport. It is a tradition for our athletic teams to perform at the highest level and that's proven by the number of conference state, and national titles our student athletes receive each year.
The Cabot School District also employs five highly experienced athletic trainers. Our Sports Medicine program is nationally-recognized and our athletic trainers’ mentor other districts in implementing this curriculum in schools across the state. Cabot is consistently awarded the National Athletic Trainers’ Associations “Safe Sports School 1st Team,” becoming the first school district in Arkansas to receive this recognition for the third time.
Opportunities at the Cabot School District are endless. Students in all grade levels are challenged daily with exciting curriculum and real-word experiences. Thanks to our stakeholders, this tradition of excellence will continue with the successful passage of our bond in May 2023. Project Panthers: Building Futures was developed to invest in our students, staff, and community’s future by way of a bond proposal rather than a millage increase. Projects funded by the bond officially began in the summer of 2023 and we are well on our way to Moving Forward!
The bond provides enhancements that include two brand new Pre-K centers with community safe rooms, installation of inclusive playgrounds with ADA accessibility on our K-6 campuses, updates to our activity facilities, a new multi-use practice pavilion, carpet removal across the district, renovation of the Fine Arts Auditorium, and classroom technology upgrades. The estimated completion date for all projects is the 2025-2026 school year.
Ultimately, all of these projects allow us to continue to provide the best in facilities and education programming for our students and community. It is only through community support that Cabot Public Schools is able to continue to provide high-quality learning experiences for our students.
Our district is also extremely fortunate to have organizations dedicated to helping our students succeed. These include the Cabot Panther Foundation and the Cabot Scholarship Foundation. The Cabot Scholarship Foundation awards more than 100 seniors over $100,000 in local scholarships each year. This is all made possible thanks to individuals, businesses, and even our own Cabot School District employees who contribute every month out of their own paychecks to benefit these scholarships. The Cabot Panther Foundation also provides numerous scholarships each year and recognizes our students and community members through programs including Real Proud of Real Panthers, Power Panthers, and Hometown Heroes.
The Cabot School District would not be successful without the commitment of our Cabot School board, district administration, dedicated teachers, school groups, parental involvement, the local business community, and the city of Cabot. The support from these groups makes the district an excellent choice for parents that desire a great educational experience for their family.
