Two CHS Juniors Achieve Perfect ACT Scores
April 5, 2019

Cabot High School juniors Ethan Peck and Madeline Johnson both scored a PERFECT 36, the highest result possible, on the ACT. Both students took the exam back in February and recently learned their amazing results.
Madeline has taken the ACT five times and improved her score from a 24 to a 36. This was Ethan's third time taking the test. His scores include a 31, 34, and then a 36. He plans on taking the ACT once more time with the essay portion.
Madeline says she was surprised and thankful when she learned about her perfect score. She says her parents were very excited. Ethan says his parents were shocked and his mom screamed when she heard the news!
Madeline has attended Cabot Schools since kindergarten and Ethan has been with the district since the 5th grade. Both credit the free GT prep classes offered by the high school as helping them improve their scores. As for offering any advice to fellow ACT test takers, Ethan says to try and relax and to write down key points that you might forget, and memorize grammar rules. Madeline highly recommends taking the free prep classes.
As for the future, Madeline plans on attending Southern Methodist University in Texas and majoring in chemistry. She would like to be a pharmacist. Ethan is unsure of his college just yet, but is interested in Rice University in Texas and the University of California, Berkely. He plans on majoring in computer science.
Cabot High School Lead Counselor Barbara Miller says the last time a CHS student scored a perfect 36 on the ACT was in 2017. Currently, there are 112 CHS students in grades 10th-12th who have scored a 30 or above on the ACT.
According to the latest ACT National Report, of the 1.9 million students who took the ACT last year, only 3,700, or 0.195 percent, scored a perfect 36.
