CHS Seniors Win Children’s Literature Competition
February 21, 2019
Cabot High School seniors Abby Ivy and Michelle Wessel recently won 1st Place in a Children's Literature competition. They presented their book at the Impacting Tomorrow Summit on February 8th at the University of Central Arkansas.
Jeff Dyer, the Arkansas Department of Education Program Advisor for Teacher Recruitment and Retention presented their award to them in their Orientation to Teaching II class. Michelle and Abby are teacher interns at Eastside Elementary and say they were motivated to write and illustrate the book after witnessing firsthand how inspiring books can be to children.

Abby and Michelle's book, “The Sky is the Limit,” is about a girl named Ellie who has big dreams. She believed she could be anything she wanted to be and Ellie wanted to be an astronaut. Despite what people told her, Ellie followed her dreams and they came true!
Students from seven schools competed in the Children's Literature category and each presentation was judged by college professors. Abby and Michelle both aspire to be educators.
Congratulations to these two future elementary teachers!
