Congratulations To Our 2019 National Merit Semifinalist
September 14, 2018
Cabot High School is proud to announce senior Claire Tebbutt has been named a National Merit Semifinalist.
The National Merit® Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. High school students enter this program by taking the Preliminary SAT and by achieving a particular score on the exam. There are around 1.5 million students that participate in this exam every year. Of those students, about 16,000, or 1% of the total graduating seniors, have scores which qualify them as Semifinalists.
Claire is an AP Scholar and is involved in many organizations at Cabot High School including the Cabot Varsity Forensics team, where she serves as a team captain. She is the current State Champion in International Extemporaneous Speaking and represented Arkansas at the National Forensics Tournament in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
This summer, she represented Cabot at Arkansas Girls State, and was also selected as an Arkansas delegate for the National Electric Cooperatives Youth Tour in Washington, D.C.
Claire is very active in our community and she plans on attending Southern Methodist University or Texas Christian University. She would like to double major in International Relations and Political Science.
Congratulations again to CHS senior Claire Tebbutt on this outstanding recognition!
