2018 Cabot High School Graduation: 700+ Photos

It was a big night as 688 students graduated from Cabot High School on May 18th.
The graduation ceremony took place at Verizon Arena in North Little Rock where thousands of family and friends waited to watch their favorite graduate walk across the stage.
Superintendent Dr. Tony Thurman welcomed everyone and congratulated the graduating class which included his own daughter, Ryane. Included in the 688 students that graduated, 221 students graduated with Honors and High Honors. Along with earning a GPA of 3.5 or higher, there are specific course requirements that must be met in order to be an honor graduate.
This year, Cabot High School had 48 High Honor graduates with GPA's above a 4.0, and 173 Honor graduates with a GPA between 3.5 and 4.0. The Class of 2018 was also awarded nearly $15 million dollars in scholarships.
This year's Valedictorian was Kylie smith, along with Co-Salutatorians Aleigha Smith and Jennifer Bond.
While at Cabot High School, Valedictorian Kylie has been a member of National Honor Society, the Mu Alpha Theta Secretary, and worked as the school's literary magazine's story editor. Kylie also helped charter FemiSTEM: a club that advocates for women's involvement in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics by engaging local elementary students in hands-on STEM activities. Kylie was selected as one of fifteen students to receive the full-tuition University Scholars Program Scholarship at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia and plans to attend George Mason in the fall. Kylie plans to major in mathematics with a concentration in secondary mathematics education and pursue a career as a teacher.
Co-Salutatorian Aleigha has been a member of the Quiz Bowl Team, National Honor Society, AP Academy, an Arkansas State 4-H Ambassador, and an officer of Mu Alpha Theta. Aleigha has been awarded the Donaghey Program Scholarship, the Governor's Distinguished Scholarship, the Cabot Public Schools Employees Scholarship, and the UALR Chancellor's Distinguished Scholarship. Aleigha plans to attend the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and pursue a career in Accounting.
Co-Salutatorian Jenny co-founded FemiSTEM with Kylie smith, organizing events such as “space day” for kids who are not able to attend space camp. Jenny was the Vice President of Mu Alpha Theta, a member of the National Honor society, and a proud member of the Ecology Club. She was inducted into the AR Women's Hall of Fame as a 2017 Girl of Distinction, and was named one of 20 Arkansas Times Academic All Stars. Jenny received a competitive full tuition scholarship to Tulane University, where she will double major in public health and molecular biology and hopes to pursue a medical degree.
Mr. Hawkins along with his assistant principals called students on stage while Cabot School Board President Dean Martin, presented students with their diplomas. Mr. Martin presented his own son Joseph with his diploma as well.
Following the changing of the tassel, Mr. Hawkins presented the Class of 2018!
