Update On Threats Against CHS April 9, 2018

April 9, 2018

Two threats were made against Cabot High School on April 9, 2018.

The first bomb threat was reported by a student mid-morning in a girls restroom.

A second threat was found by a staff member in a different girls restroom at 12:50 p.m. Administrators working with the Cabot Police Department were able to immediately identify a suspect, utilizing information from the morning incident, who confessed to writing both threats found Monday on bathroom stall walls.

The Cabot Police Department has issued the following statement:

“The Cabot Police Department responded to the Cabot High School for two separate bomb threats today. Both threats were written on the bathroom walls. A juvenile suspect was arrested this afternoon for the two threats made today. The investigation into Friday's threat is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the threat on Friday is asked to contact the Cabot Police Department Criminal Investigations Division at 501-843-6166.”

We continue to work with the Cabot Police Department to bring the incident involving the bomb threat last Friday to a resolution. Anyone with information should contact a school administrator or the Cabot Police Department. The $1000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for the threat last Friday stands.

We also want our parents to know that when a threat is received, the school district never makes decisions in isolation. We are fortunate to have a great partnership with all of our first responders that care deeply about our students and community. Every decision that involves a threat to the safety of our students and staff is made together. The school district would never make a decision about student safety and security that isn't supported by our law enforcement and fire department leadership.

The school district knows that any threat against students and staff is frightening to everyone and we take these very serious. It is imperative that parents reinforce to our students that any type of threat, regardless of the true intent, against students and staff will result in their arrest and recommended expulsion from school.
