March 2018 School Board Recognition

March 15, 2018

A group of outstanding Cabot High School students were recognized at the March School Board meeting.

National Merit Finalists

The National Merit® Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. High school students enter this program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).

According to nationalmerit.org, of the 1.5 million entrants, some 50,000 with the highest PSAT/NMSQT® Selection Index scores (critical reading + mathematics + writing skills scores) qualify for recognition in the National Merit® Scholarship Program.

Congratulations to our five Cabot High School National Merit Finalists!

Taryn Toles, Stephanie Taylor, Connor Pearson, David Nichols, and Lauren Dieringer

All-State Choir

Students auditioned for the All-Region Choir in October, where they had to sing excerpts of pieces they've been working on. The top 20 in each section were eligible to audition for the All-State Choir in February. They had to learn all new music for this as well as sight read a small piece in their audition. The top 50 in each section were named to the Arkansas All-State Choir, which is a huge honor. We are very proud of our Cabot All-State Choir members!

Dean Martin (Cabot School Board President), Andrew Cheatham, Blair Norman, Teddi-Anne Hulke, Jackson Brinkman, and Choir Director Maggie Ashburn
