Lonoke County Farm Bureau Donates $1,500 To Backpack Program
October 5, 2016

The Lonoke County Farm Bureau made a huge donation Monday night. President Robby Bevis presented a total of $6,000 to Lonoke County Schools at their 81st Annual Meeting.
Four school districts, including the Cabot School District each received $1,500 for their school “Backpack Programs.” The backpack program enables a student in need to take a backpack of food home. The food helps provide meals to their family over the weekend.
The Lonoke County Farm Bureau is a nonprofit organization dedicated to being a resource for agriculture, their membership and the youth of Lonoke County. Their Board of Directors is made up of farmers from here in Lonoke county. They became aware there was a problem of hunger among many of our own children here in the county and felt moved to try and help.
The Board of Directors were informed about the backpack program and immediately felt the need to do something. They began donating to the program last year on a smaller scale and decided this year to include all school districts within Lonoke County.
Thank you to the Lonoke County Farm Bureau for supporting the Cabot School District and our students. Your generous donation will make a huge impact on our students and families.
