CMSS Students Learn Patriotic Lesson

September 13, 2016

Cabot Middle School South students learned a special lesson recently on patriotism and flag etiquette.

They received a very special visit from the Cabot American Legion Post 71. The Legion showed a film to 5th grade students in the gymnasium about the importance of the American flag and how to properly handle it.

A flag folding ceremony was also demonstrated by Marines Staff Sergeant Zachary Leuhsler and Corporal John Sullivan. Cabot American Legion First Vice Commander Carl Schmidt explained the symbols for each of the 13 folds of the flag.

The American flag was then presented to CMSS Principal Casey Hanna. State Senator Eddie Joe Williams also gave Mrs. Hanna an American flag that flew over the state capitol.

Cabot Mayor Bill Cypert also attended the flag ceremony.
