District Back To School Meeting 2016-2017
August 10, 2016

Hundreds filled the CHS Auditorium Tuesday for the district “Back to School” meeting. Teachers, faculty, and staff were treated to breakfast provided by First Security Bank.
Next they heard a wonderful performance by senior Autumne Kendricks. Autumne shared her talent by singing an acapella number for staff. Cabot graduate and Olympian Lexi Weeks also made an appearance in a back to school video message. She told the crowd she was proud to be a Cabot Panther and thanked teachers for making a difference in her life.
Assistant Superintendent Dr. Tammy Tucker addressed teachers along with Cabot School board President Brian Evans about how they have the power to change lives.
Superintendent Dr. Tony Thurman then welcomed several guests on stage including Mayor Bill Cypert, Chad Young with the Cabot Panther Foundation, Dwight Daugherty with the Cabot Scholarship Foundation, Wynonne Dwiggins with the Wade Knox child Advocacy Center, Pam Sowell and Brandy Gwatney with the Cabot Teachers Association, and Dr. Allison Greenwood with the Arkansas State Teachers Association. Several school board members were also in attendance.
Some new teachers and administrators also stole the spotlight after Dr. Thurman surprised them as part of a hidden camera interview. They were great sports! Teachers also participated in a fun game of Panther Family Feud. Secondary teachers won $15 gift cards thanks to Walmart.
After all the fun and games it was time to get down to school business. Dr. Thurman talked about the upcoming school year, goals, expectations, and encouraged educators as they headed back to their classrooms.
It was a great Back to School district meeting and we are looking forward to a great year. We can't wait to see students back on the first day, Monday, August. 15th.
