Top CHS Students Honored at Kiwanis Banquet
May 6, 2016
It was a big night for Cabot High School juniors and seniors as they were recognized by the Cabot Kiwanis Club at Tuesday's Honors Banquet.
Hundreds of people attended the event including many proud parents. Walt Coleman served as guest speaker.

Coleman is an executive with Hiland Dairy in Little Rock and for the last 27 years he's also been an official referee for the National Football League.
The Cabot Kiwanis Club awarded several scholarships, two given in memory of past presidents, Gail Carpenter and Mike Flowers, one given in memory of Lane Whitaker, past president of the Cabot Key Club, and one in honor of Jim and Maxine Thompson for their on-going and faithful service to the Cabot Kiwanis Club and community. The Earl Collins Scholarship from the MO/AR district was also awarded to a deserving senior.
Congratulations to the following:
Madison Walker – Gail Carpenter Scholarship $1,000
Abbie Lippincott – Mike Flowers Scholarship $1,000
Madison Shaddox – Lane Whitaker Scholarship $1,000
Heather Payne – Jim & Maxine Thompson Scholarship $1,000
Courtney Gibson – Earl Collins Scholarship $1,000

A special group of students also worked hard to provide a deserving senior with a scholarship. The Magness Creek Elementary K-Kids (Kiwanis Kids) raised money by having fundraisers throughout the year, including Santa's Workshop store and a "Sweetheart Shoppe" around Valentine's Day. At the banquet, they presented senior Christian Weatherley with a $1,000 scholarship. In fact, they raised enough money to fund another scholarship next year and will be working toward setting up a permanent investment that will be able to provide scholarships for many more years to come!

Juniors and seniors who have maintained a 3.5 grade point average or higher were also recognized.
Thank you to the Cabot Kiwanis Club and K-Kids for supporting our students!
