CHS Students Dominate at SkillsUSA Competition

Cabot High School Career & Technical Education programs recently participated in the 2016 SkillsUSA Arkansas Leadership and Skills Championships in Hot Springs.

Several students won tuition waivers to community colleges, scholarship money, and a spot in nationals! Eighteen-hundred students from across the state competed in 90 different contests. Close to 50 students from Cabot High School took part in the competition.

Congratulations to all our amazing students. All gold medalists will be competing at the National Competition in June in Louisville, Kentucky. They also qualified for an in-state tuition waiver to 22 two-year institutions.

Plumbing
Gold - Kordell Renard – tuition waiver to 'plumbing and technical' schools and a tool set

Medical Portfolio
Gold - Madison Stocks - tuition waiver for two years at U of A Morrilton
Bronze - Hannah Reynolds - tuition waiver for two years at U of A Morrillton

Motorcycle Repair
Gold - Brody Platt - tuition waiver AND $10,000 scholarship plus $40 and bragging rights!
Silver - Paul Babcock - $5,000 scholarship
Bronze - Austin Middleton - $3,000 scholarship

Power Equipment
Silver - Justin Cavender - screwdriver set 

First Aid CPR
Gold - Andre Scott - full tuition waiver

Medical Math
Gold - Ty Copeland - full tuition waiver

Broadcasting
Gold – Ginger Daily, Autumn Romines, Clayton Holderfield and Nick Swift – each $100 cash prize and full two year tuition waiver

SkillsUSA is a national organization serving more than 300,000 high school and college/postsecondary students and professional members in career and technical education training programs. Through SkillsUSA, students gain self-esteem, pride in their work, and leadership and professional development skills to help them make a smooth transition from school to the workplace.
