April: Month of the Military Child
April 11, 2016

Governor Asa Hutchinson recently signed a proclamation declaring April as the Month of the Military Child.
In 2013, Arkansas formally joined the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children, a national organization committed to easing transitions for military families. The law also created the Arkansas State Council for the Interstate Compact on Educational Opportunity for Military Children.
The Interstate Compact addresses key educational transition issues encountered by military families, including: enrollment, placement, attendance, eligibility, and graduation.
On April 15, many states and communities around the country will honor military children by wearing purple.
