February 26, 2016

More students continue to impress teachers and administrators earning them the title of “Power Panthers."
Fifty “Power Panthers” were recognized at Tuesday's basketball game for their outstanding work in and out of the classroom.
“Power Panthers” is a student recognition program sponsored by the Cabot Panther Foundation and the Cabot School District. The program honors students in the third through sixth grades who have demonstrated the power and motivation to improve or excel in academics, behavior or citizenship.
Students who received this honor were nominated by a building administrator or staff member. Every Power Panther received tickets to attend the basketball game, a Power Panther t-shirt, and coupons for the concession stand.
Prior to being recognized on the court, students gathered in the auditorium to hear from some district leaders. Supt. Dr. Thurman welcomed the students and their parents. Bowling Coach Clark Bing spoke to the students explaining his motto BAR – Believe, Achieve, and Receive. State Bowling Champion senior Micah Perry, who also recently won a gold medal in the state bowling tournament, also spoke to the “Power Panthers.”
Ricky Hill, Vice President of the Cabot School Board, as well as, Steve Jackson, President of the Panther Foundation also welcomed and congratulated all the students.
The message all the speakers emphasized to the students is to strive to do the right thing and continue being “Power Panthers!”
