Special Student Recognition

June 25, 2012

Cabot Middle School student Jose Garcia-Montes was honored in a special recognition for his heroic behavior during a recent school bus accident.

Jose was the last passenger riding the bus when the accident occurred. The bus was traveling on Hwy 5 when a large dog ran onto the road causing the bus driver to swerve into a ditch.

After the accident, Jose helped free the bus driver from her seat belt and off the bus.  No injuries occurred to Jose or the driver.

Superintendent Dr. Tony Thurman presented Jose with a special certificate and a coin recognizing his bravery and several students gave Jose cards and made him a banner for his heroic deed.
