CMSS Frontier Festival: Oct. 30th
October 21, 2015
The 19th Annual Cabot Middle School South Frontier Festival will be held on Friday, October 30th, at CMSS in Cabot.
The day will begin at 6:45 a.m. with a pioneer breakfast in the cafeteria. It will end around 2:45 p.m. Throughout the day of the festival, 5th grade students will experience hands-on learning provided by reenactors and specialists from the Early Arkansaw Reenactors Association, the History Helpers, the Mississippi Valley Living History Program, and other reenactors.
The school campus will be transformed to early 1800s Arkansas with the authentic log cabin in the front serving as a backdrop. Students and faculty will dress in pioneer attire to add to the authenticity of the day. Parents and the community are invited to attend all or part of the festival with our students.
Frontier Festival is a grand event at CMSS. We hope that you will be able to take part in this “living history” opportunity with our students and their families.
The project is supported in part by a grant from the Arkansas Humanities Council and the National Endowment for the Humanities.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact the school at (501)743-3570 or email the project coordinator, Debra Polston, at debbie.polston@cps.k12.ar.us.
