April School Board Recognition 2025

April 21, 2025

Another big night of recognitions at Tuesday's Cabot School Board meeting. Some of our students and staff were recognized for being outstanding in and out of the classroom.

All-State Choir

Our All-State Choir students were recently recognized at the Cabot School Board meeting.

April School Board Meeting

Students auditioned for All-Region Choir where they had to sing excerpts of pieces they've been working on. The Top 20 in each section were eligible to audition for All-State Choir. They had to learn all new music for this as well as sight read a small piece in their audition. The top 50 in each section were named to the Arkansas All-State Choir, which is a huge honor! Cabot High School. Congratulations to these students!

Student Spotlight
Lana Hughes - Westside Elementary

Lana Hughes

Principal Frankie Glover says, "Lana Hughes has been an exceptional student the entire time I have known her. Not only does she strive to do her best daily, but she is always thoughtful, kind, caring, and considerate. I would especially like to highlight Lana's thoughtfulness." Principal Glover says, "She is always working hard, but never too hard to look around to find a need or ask how she can help. At Westside, we continually strive for growth in every area, and Lana exemplifies that commitment."

PLC Building Recognition
Kathy Hill - Westside Elementary

Kathy Hill
Kathy Hill

Principal Frankie Glover says, "Kathy Hill is the kind of kindergarten teacher every parent hopes for and every child remembers forever. " With endless patience, a warm smile, and a gift for making each student feel seen and valued, she turns every day into an opportunity for discovery and joy. Her classroom hums with laughter, curiosity, and the quiet confidence of kids who know they’re loved. Whether she’s teaching letters, tying shoes, or singing, Kathy brings heart, skill, and a deep sense of purpose to everything she does. She doesn’t just teach - she shapes little lives with kindness and care.

PLC Building Recognition
Casey Adams - Ward Central Elementary

Casey Adams is an amazing teacher. Her impact is felt by both students and colleagues alike. Here’s what some of her fellow staff members had to say: “Since working with her, I’ve always said, ‘I wish she had been my math teacher growing up!’ She makes math easy to understand, and because of her, I’ve actually learned to love math. I always recommend her to parents - especially if they want to see real growth in math. WC is lucky to have her!”

“She makes learning clear and easier to remember. She turns lessons into something fun, which helps us retain what we’ve learned. She takes care of us and makes sure we’re prepared for 5th grade. If you need help, she’s always there. She encourages us by reminding us that we’re capable of great things.”

A Moment of Gratitude

At end of our Cabot School Board meeting, a proud parent shared a heartfelt message of thanks to both our Superintendent, Dr. Thurman, and our incredible Special Programs Department.

Because of their support and advocacy, John and Tiffany Dodd's daughter, Lauren, who has autism, is a thriving senior. She’s graduating with honors and was celebrated at the board meeting for earning a spot in the All-State Choir. She's officially driving, has a job, and plans to go to college. Lauren's journey is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when students are supported, believed in, and celebrated for who they are. Thank you to every staff member who played a part in helping her grow and shine. This is what Cabot is all about.
