Eastside Elementary Celebrates Hometown Heroes

October 1, 2015

Eastside Elementary celebrated our hometown heroes recently. Officers from the Cabot Police Department, Ward Police Department, Austin Police Department and deputies from the Lonoke County Sheriff's Office were invited to have lunch with students.

They were then treated to a free shopping trip at the book fair. Students helped officers and deputies select books to put in their vehicles. These books will be given to kids to help comfort them in difficult situations.

Students and parents donated change to help buy the books. In all, they collected about $300.00. Eastside then used “Scholastic Dollars” to help pay for the remaining books. Scholastic Dollars is credit the school receives as rewards for having book fairs.
