He has become a leader at Central and has even served as a classroom ambassador. He is working hard at creating relationships with his peers that are built on kindness, generosity, and compassion.
David is also working hard in the classroom. His writing has improved tremendously and his MAP fluency data shows that he has met grade-level expectations in Phonological Awareness, Phonics/Word recognition, Listening Comprehension, and Picture Vocabulary. David has also seen a 30% growth in our science of reading-based computer program, Lexia!

Student Spotlight
Lanna Linderman, Magness Creek Elementary
Lanna Linderman, fourth grader at Magness Creek, used the LEAD lessons on empathy, to share her story of dwarfism with the world. She established a playground group to educate her peers of dwarfism, wrote a children's author on diverse abilities to advocate for dwarfism in his next book, and delivered the announcements to students and staff on International Dwarfism Awareness Day, or what we at the Creek lovingly call, Lanna Day! Lanna was empowered with empathy to change the world for the better!
PLC Building Recognition
Kristen Steinmetz, Magness Creek
Kristen Steinmetz, music teacher at Magness Creek, has been "instrumental" in creating LEAD lessons for every student K-4 to participate in once a week with activity teachers. These LEAD lessons are focused on monthly character words associated with our Capturing Kids Hearts curriculum. Lessons are fast paced, multisensory, engaging, and interactive. Character words focused on thus far are empathy, self-direct, responsibility, teamwork, and respect. Mrs. Steinmetz has modeled these lessons for all elementary principals, assistant principals, and innovative instructional facilitators in the district. The social-emotional growth and behaviors of Magness Creek students have been positively impacted because of her work creating and delivering these lessons.

School Board Recognition Month
Cabot Public Schools is proud to honor our dedicated Cabot School Board members during Arkansas School Board Recognition Month.
This month-long observance, which is held every January, is the perfect time to show our appreciation to our board members who volunteer their time to ensure the success of our students. It is also an excellent opportunity for the Cabot School District and the community to build a stronger understanding of the crucial role school boards play.
As part of Arkansas School Board Recognition Month, our Cabot Forensics & Debate students performed a reader's theatre for our school board members. Thank you to Mrs. Selah and her students for taking the time to recognize our board members.
Master Board Member
Dr. James Hertzog, Pam Clem, and Marvin Jones were also recognized as Master Board Members from the Arkansas School Boards Association for accumulating at least 50 hours of professional development training.
