Courtroom in the Classroom - Federal Court Comes to Cabot High School

January 31, 2024

It was a history-making day for Cabot High School! For the first time ever, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas brought the experience of an actual federal court hearing to a school campus and Cabot High School was honored to be chosen to be the host!

Hundreds of students had the unique opportunity to witness a real-life motion hearing as the Cabot High School Auditorium was transformed into a "courtroom" where The Honorable Lee P. Rudofsky presided.

Students received copies of some of the parties' legal filings in advance and have been studying the case in the classroom. Students even went through security just as they would at a Federal Courthouse. They also have been learning about courtroom etiquette.

Following the hearing, students attended breakout sessions with Judge Rudofsky, U.S. Marshals, and court staff. Students were able to ask questions about their careers and questions about the case.

Thank you to Judge Rudofsky and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas for chosing Cabot High School to host this memorable courtroom experience for our students!

This pilot program was a year in the making and we appreciate all the hard work of everyone involved in making this a reality.
