Graduation 2023 Moved To Panther Arena - No Early Dismissal

May 18, 2023

The Cabot School District has been in close contact with the National Weather Service regarding Friday night’s graduation at War Memorial Stadium. The latest guidance provided is very concerning. The forecast for the Little Rock area between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. is a 70% chance of rain. We have also been advised that the potential for severe weather has increased.

In the event of lightning within a 3 mile radius of the stadium, we would be required to evacuate the metal bleachers and field. The ceremony would not be allowed to commence until 30 minutes after the previous lightning detection.

If there are rain and storms in Little Rock on Friday night, we made the right decision. If it doesn’t rain and storm in Little Rock on Friday night as predicted, we stand firm on the fact that we used the best information available from weather professionals when a decision needed to be made.

It may not be the perfect scenario, but keep in mind that whether we graduate on Friday or Saturday, your graduate will have a ceremony and that’s what matters.

Due to these uncontrollable circumstances, the Cabot School District has made the difficult decision to move graduation to Saturday, May 20th at Panther Arena.

The district will NOT dismiss early Friday. School will be on a regular schedule.

LINE 89 and graduation practice will still be held Friday morning. Seniors will report to Panther Arena no later than 7:45 a.m. The route for LINE 89 will remain the same and seniors will return to CHS for practice after the parade.

Graduation will be held in three separate ceremonies based on a student’s last name. At the conclusion of the mandatory graduation practice, student’s will receive eight (8) tickets for family and friends to use to attend their student’s ceremony. The tickets will be color coded to match your assigned session.

For those without a ticket to graduation, the Fine Arts Auditorium will be available for visitors to watch the live-stream of the graduation. Seats are on a first-come, first-served basis.

The live-stream is available to anyone anywhere using this link:
