Cabot Theatre Sets Sail with Cole Porter’s “Anything Goes!” March 10-11

You may remember from last March a certain group of revolting children who took the stage by storm in Cabot Theatre’s 2022 spring production of “Matilda.” The students of Truncham Hall continued their revolt in May of that year by taking their performance on the road to the High School Musical Theatre Awards in Memphis, Tennessee with 18 nominations for categories such as tech, chorus, lead actress, choreography and more. Cabot Theatre was honored in their inaugural year of the awards to be able to perform on the Orpheum stage and bring home Best Chorus, Best Set Design, and several individual technical awards.

2022 High School Musical Theatre Awards: Cabot High School

The HSMTAs is a program that supports, promotes, and celebrates high school musical theatre throughout the Mid-South. The program aims to provide access to arts education, create opportunities for self-expression, develop relationships between schools and the Orpheum, encourage collaboration, enhance excellence, build community, and instill a lifelong passion for the arts. Cabot Theatre’s story with the High School Musical Theatre Awards is just beginning.

This season, Cabot Theatre enters the ring of the HSMTAs with their 2023 production of Anything Goes!

Anything Goes was revised in 2022 to make the script more accessible to all audiences and to include Cole Porter’s most magical score with songs like “I Get a Kick Out of You,” “You’re the Top,” and “Anything Goes.” Your journey on the S.S. American starts at the doors of Cabot Theatre’s “pier” and the crew is giddy with anticipation to share this hilarious and fun journey with you on March 10 and 11.

Judges from the Orpheum will travel to our auditorium to experience our show and nominations will be announced in April with the awards ceremony following at the end of May.
