Director of Debate Receives National Honor

Congratulations to our Director of Debate, Rachel Macheline! Ms. Mauchline has been named the National Debate Coaches Association's 2022 Rising Star.

The Rising Star award honors a teacher early in his or her coaching career who has made significant contributions to their program, state, and nation. The honoree must be a full-time employee of a school, and be in their first five years of coaching debate in a full-time capacity.

This honor is just one of many this year for Ms. Macheline. In April, Ms. Mauchline was selected as this year’s recipient of the Early Career Alumni Award from the Department of Communication at the University of Arkansas.

In February, she received the Doug Duke Outstanding Debate Coach Award for being a successful coach who knows the importance of family, is a promoter of debate, education, and who, like Coach Duke, loves this activity with all their heart.

In March of 2021, Ms. Mauchline was named the 2021 Arkansas District Communicator of the Year by the Arkansas Communication & Theatre Arts Association (ACTAA).
