On behalf of our faculty and staff, welcome to Ward Central Elementary! I am very excited about the 2021-2022 school year. At Ward Central, students are our first priority! We welcome the opportunity to share our vision to encourage students to live up to their full potential by setting high standards, both academically and personally. We strive to achieve academic excellence while also providing each student opportunities for social growth.
It is our mission to help every child feel welcomed, connected and a part of our school family. We look to our parents to be part of our family, too. Just think how successful a child’s school experience can be…when we ALL work together as one. At Ward Central, we have great teachers and staff who care about every student and will go above and beyond to meet their needs. We want our students to be excited about learning, to be problem solvers, avid readers/writers, lifelong learners and become great leaders in our society.
This school year, we are very excited to begin in-depth exposure with our 4th graders in the area of STEM. STEM stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. STEM is important because it spreads throughout every part of our lives. STEM education creates critical thinkers, increases science literacy, and enables the next generation of innovators. Because of this, our fourth graders will be exposed to hands-on and minds-on lessons including coding, air rockets, circuitry, drones, engineering, construction, graphic video game design, experiments, and robotics. We are excited to share the progress of this program with you!
We are looking forward to working with each student and family for a very successful school year. Together, we can accomplish great things. We hope that you will find our website helpful and informative. It is our desire to keep you informed of all that is taking place at school. Up-to-date information will be sent to parents through teacher weekly newsletters and our monthly school newsletter. We hope to have many involved in our parental involvement activities and PTO.
