2015 Cabot High School Graduation: 200+ Pictures
May 19, 2015
It was an amazing night, 13 years in the making for more than 600 Cabot High School seniors as they walked across the stage to receive their high school diplomas.
The graduation ceremony for the “Class of 2015” was held Friday, May 15th, at Verizon Arena in North Little Rock. In front of thousands of family and friends, 639 seniors graduated. In all, they received $9.8 million dollars in scholarships.
Superintendent Dr. Tony Thurman welcomed guests expressing how proud he was of the Class of 2015. This year there were two valedictorians and two salutatorians.
Co-Salutatorians Alexis and Victoria Weeks decided since they do everything side-by-side, they would give their speech together. They thanked everyone for supporting, encouraging, teaching and inspiring them throughout this very important stage in their lives. (Click HERE to read the entire speech).
Valedictorian Annalise Jirik explained how life is more than a journey, rather an exploration. She wanted her classmates to remember, before they set sail, that they are already prepared thanks to the educational foundation offered by the Cabot School District. She said they would not be here without the encouragement, love and assistance of educators and parents. (Click HERE to read the entire speech).
Valedictorian Sooyoung Matthews asked the Class of 2015, now that they finally made it to graduation, “Where do they go and what do they do now?” She explained there are three things to consider. First, she told her classmates they must find their passion in life. Second, they must set high expectations and finally, they must allow themselves to make mistakes along the way.
As she wrapped up her speech, Sooyoung quoted Shing Xiong, a Chinese nobleman who once stated, “In the end, it's not going to matter how many breaths you took, but how many moments that took your breath away.” (Click HERE to read the entire speech).
Following the speeches, Cabot High School Principal Henry Hawkins and staff called students onto the stage while School Board President Donna Nash presented them with their diplomas. After the changing of the tassel, Principal Hawkins presented the Class of 2015.
