March 2015 School Board Recognition

It was a big night Tuesday as students and teachers were recognized at March's school board meeting.

Thea Art Foundation Winners
Two Cabot students were recognized after receiving awards for their hard work and artistic ability at the recent Thea Foundation Art competition. Cabot High School Art Teacher Mrs. Helen Goodman shared information about the Thea Foundation and about each awarded piece.

Arkansas All-State Band
Over 1,500 students from around the state tryout for All-State Band each year. This year, Cabot had fifty three students tryout with twenty -four of them receiving the honor.

Under the direction of Band Director Mr. Joey Trusty, these students received the 'Best of the Best' title for exemplifying excellence and outstanding achievement.

Doctorate Recipient - Dr. Rebecca Foster
Dr. Foster completed her Doctoral Degree January 2015 at Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. Her dissertation title: “Historical Patterns and Underlying Causes in the Relationship between Specific Types of Disabilities and Substance or Weapons Abuse in Public Schools from 2001 to 2011.  

Dr. Foster has been in the district for 15 years. Thirteen years as a Special Education Teacher, and 1 1/2 as (elementary) Due Process Designee.  She has taught in all subject areas, as a resource teacher, inclusion teacher or indirect teacher in grades 6-12.

She is also licensed in Curriculum Programming, Building Administration and Curriculum/Programming/Administration Special Education.
