December 2014 School Board Recognition

December 17, 2014

Dec. 17th, 2014

An elementary student, high school senior, paraprofessional and school board are all recognized at Tuesday's meeting.

Wonder Essay Contest Winner

Congratulations to Southside Elementary student Alexis Childs for winning the Wonder Essay Contest. The contest is based on the book “Wonder” by R.J. Palacio. Wendelyn Osborne worked with the Arkansas Department of Education to develop the essay contest for students in K-12th grade. The students were asked to write an essay on teaching others to choose to be kind.

This is the second year for the contest and there was a winner from Cabot and one from Bentonville.

Special Education Paraprofessional of the Year

Cabot High School's Becky Bryant has won the Arkansas Council for Exceptional Children Special Education Paraprofessional of the Year Award.

The award recognizes an Arkansas Paraprofessional who currently provides direct services to students with exceptionalities. Congratulations Mrs. Bryant.

Perfect ACT Score

Cabot High School Senior Jon Dale Nichols has bragging rights. He scored a perfect 36 on his ACT.

Jon Dale took the test in October and is interested in becoming a college physics professor.

Outstanding School Board Award

Congratulations to our Cabot School Board. The Arkansas School Board Association recognizes entire boards whose members have all attained specified development levels. The Cabot School Board has been recognized as an Outstanding Board by the ASBA. This is earned when all members have achieved the individual Outstanding Board Member award. The Outstanding Board Member award is achieved when members complete at least 25 hours of progressive levels of training to enhance boardsmanship skills. Members earn hours through board development activities.

Congratulations to our outstanding Cabot School Board.
