Cabot Schools To Close Feb. 6 & 7 (Thursday/Friday)

February 3, 2020

We appreciate your patience regarding this recent illness outbreak. We understand the stress this is causing on some of our parents, students, and staff.

Please know we are closely monitoring the situation. As of Monday, February 3rd, our attendance numbers held steady with 92% of our students at school.

However, we are also aware that there will be an extreme change in the weather happening later this week. We anticipate the weather could have an impact and begin to decrease our attendance rate with high temperatures in the upper 60's on Tuesday to mid-40's later in the week.

To help prevent even more students and staff from possibly falling ill and anticipating that the pending temperature contrast could worsen the situation, Cabot Public Schools will close on Thursday, Feb. 6th and Friday, Feb. 7th. All extra-curricular events will continue as scheduled.

Feb. 6 and Feb. 7 will be considered AMI Days 1 and 2. Teachers will share AMI information with students and parents in advance of the closing.

We are sharing this information as early as possible to give parents advance notice of the closing so that arrangements can be made for your student.

If your child is currently home sick, please do not send them back to school until they meet the requirements to return. A diagnosis of flu requires being out of school for five days and fever-free for 24 hours without fever reducing medication.

We hope the upcoming long four-day weekend will help combat the spread of illness and give students and staff time to recuperate and return to school healthy on Monday, February 10.
