Panther Wrestler Jake Long Places 2nd At Nationals

April 26, 2019

The Cabot Panther Wrestling season has come to a close but one athlete went the extra mile with attending the National Wrestling Championship in Kansas Missouri where he placed 2nd overall!

Jake attended the National Championship April 6th with 30 athletes in his 160 lb. weight class. Jake was one of only 30 athletes from Arkansas to attend the tournament and out of those 30, only 3 made it to the finals.  Jake competed in a total of 5 matches and lost the final match with a wrestler from Wisconsin.

Cabot Junior Jake Long finished the season with placing runner-up at conference and 4th overall the 6A State Tournament for his weight class.  Jake is also an All-American Wrestler.

Jake finished the 2019 wrestling season with a 45-16 record. The Panther Wrestling team finished with a 13-5 record.

Coach Turner, Head Panther Wrestling Coach, describes Jake as a great athlete and kid. He says Jake is a very coachable athlete and values wrestling. He says he gets into the philosophy of it. Wrestling isn't just something that Jake does, it's who he is.

Jake plans to continue wrestling into his senior year with a goal of winning the State title for his weight class.
