CHS Computer Science/Coding Students Compete In HighSchoolHack

April 25, 2019

Several Cabot High School computer science and coding students recently competed in HighSchoolHack. Arkansas School for Math, Sciences, and the Arts (ASMSA) recently hosted the event.

Teams from across Arkansas came together to compete in the event which focused on cyber security. By the end of the 10-hour competition, Cabot High School was on top of the leaderboard.

Bits Please, a team comprised of CHS junior Addison Zheng, sophomore Kaden Ramirez, junior Tyler Lacroix, junior Brooke A. Riley, and sophomore Curtis McElroy earned 13375 points, which is less than 1% behind the 1st place team score of 13725.

The competition is divided into groups of categories that focus on different areas of cyber security. More difficult challenges provide opportunities to score more points. Teams work to find solutions to the challenges, completing as many as they can before time runs out.

“I just wanted the experience to be honest, it was great and I just wanted to have fun. … I had a wonderful time” says Brooke A. Riley.

Congratulations to these outstanding computer science and coding students!
