CHS Art Students Win Scholarships/Awards at AYAA Competition 2019

CHS student members of the state organization Arkansas Young Artist's Association (AYAA) competed with 1,600 students from across the state in 72 categories of approximately 4,000 works of art at the Convention Center in Little Rock on April 10, 2019. This year was the organization's 40th anniversary.

CHS took 14 students, received 13 awards, and garnered four scholarships of $500 each. The scholarship winners, Chandler Smith, Lindy Cook, Emily Guthro and Ivy Westmoreland, were required to apply with a body of artwork along with educational data and teacher recommendations to be considered for this award. 

Our category award winners are as follows:

Mikayla Boyd, 2nd in Oils, Expressive, 2nd Place

Lindy Cook, Mixed Media 2D Expressive, 1st Place

Sydney Elias, Colored Pencil Realistic, 3rd Place

Tori Fries, Digital Art, 4th Place

Emily Guthro, Printmaking, 3rd Place

Kamryn Runyon, Pen & Ink Abstract, Honorable Mention; Acrylic Expressive, 3rd Place

Sam Savage, Oil Pastel Expressive, Honorable Mention

Chandler Smith, Chalk Pastel Expressive, 3rd Place; Colored Pencil Realistic, Honorable Mention

Ivy Westmoreland, Charcoal/Conte Realistic, 3rd Place; Mixed Media 2D Realistic 1st Place; Watercolor Realistic, Honorable Mention
