February 22, 2017

New Cabot High School Band Director

The Cabot School District is proud to announce that Rusty Hart has been hired as the new Cabot High School Band Director. Hart is currently in his 11th year as an educator and 4th year as Assistant Band Director at Cabot High School.

Hart is a 2002 graduate of Cabot High School. Prior to teaching at Cabot, Hart was the Director of Bands at Baptist Preparatory High School in Little Rock and Magnet Cove High School. Hart's professional affiliations include Phi Beta Mu-International Bandmasters Fraternity, Arkansas Bandmasters Association, Arkansas School Band and Orchestra Association, and Kappa Kappa Psi Honorary Band Fraternity.

The Cabot High School Band program is consistently one of the top performers in the state. Hart is eager to continue the tradition in leading our exemplary students to success in high school and even collegiate band programs.

“The Cabot High School Band is known for having a strong tradition of excellence and I couldn't be happier to continue the legacy that Joe Trusty is leaving. I look forward to working with our incredible staff and building on the foundation we have as a program to see what new heights we can achieve.”

Hart will replace Joe Trusty who is retiring at the end of June after 30 years with the Cabot School District.

Hart and his wife live in Cabot with their 7-year-old daughter and two foster children.

New Athletic Director

The Cabot School District is also proud to welcome home former Cabot High School graduate Rob Coleman. Coleman has been named the new Athletic Director for the Cabot School District and officially begins his new position on Monday, February 27th.

Coleman is a 1985 graduate of Cabot High School. Prior to accepting the Athletic Director position at Cabot, Coleman was part of Gus Malzahn's coaching staff at Auburn University, serving as a Defensive Football Analyst. Coleman has also worked for several Arkansas school districts as a teacher and coach, including the Bentonville School District, Springdale School District, and Shiloh Christian.

Coleman says he could not pass up the opportunity to come home to Cabot and he is excited to work for an outstanding school district. His wife is also a Cabot High School graduate. They have a son and daughter. Their son is a high school football coach in Birmingham, Alabama and their daughter is a junior at the University of Central Arkansas.

Coleman replaces Steve Roberts who recently accepted a position to become an associate executive director of the Arkansas Activities Association.

Congratulations to both Rusty Hart and Rob Coleman!
