Former Student Surprises Ward Central Teacher With Hero Essay

January 7, 2016

A Cabot teacher received quite a surprise from a former student and a Cabot company.

Sarah Fryar teaches 4th grade at Ward Central Elementary. Wednesday morning, former student Alexia Green, GlamaKus owner Jamie Still and Author Jim West surprised Fryar in class.

Still hosts an after school Glam Girls Club and recently sponsored an essay contest for students in Cabot called “Superheroes in Education.”

Alexia wrote about Ms. Fryar saying, “The reason she inspires me is because she is an amazing teacher to me. She gave me the benefit of the doubt when others had already judged me and labeled me.”

Alexia's essay won the “Superheroes in Education” contest and she was awarded a Kindle Fire. A second Kindle was also presented to Ms. Fryar who was completely surprised.

Ms. Fryar also received two autographed copies of books written by Jim West. Mr. West is not only co-owner of GlamaKus but he's authored a book series for young readers called Magicae Mathmatica.

Congratulations Ms. Fryar!
