AR Legislative Joint Education Committee Meets at Cabot Schools
October 6, 2015

The Cabot School District had the honor of hosting the Arkansas Legislative Joint Education Committee along with several guests.
Representatives and senators began their meeting Monday at the Cabot Freshman Academy. There they had the opportunity to tour the campus and visit classes. They also learned why the 9th grade year is so important and Principal Tanya Spillane shared remarkable data on the success of the Freshman Academy after just one year.
Legislators then had a chance to experience our unique food service at the Cabot High School. Since changing to the food court atmosphere, the high school has seen a 209% increase in the amount of students eating breakfast and a 203% increase in lunch.
During lunch, several of our outstanding teachers provided a brief overview of the career and technical offerings at Cabot High School. Legislators also had the opportunity to visit Agriculture, Broadcasting, Athletic Training and Sport Medicine Training classes. They even watched our students anchor a newscast.
It was a great day and we appreciate the Joint Education Committee for choosing to hold their meeting at the Cabot School District.
