Magness Creek Elementary Students Now Have a New Route to School

August 7, 2015

Some Cabot parents are happy their kids now have a new way to school. For years, parents and community leaders have been working to provide an alternate way for students to get to Magness Creek Elementary.

Parents of students who live in the Magness Creek North subdivision normally have to travel onto Highway 5 to get their kids to school. Now, kids can walk to school thanks to the new Big Red Bridge. The 150 foot bridge crosses over a creek that previously blocked students from walking to school.

The Magness Creek Big Red Bridge was made possible through a grant provided by the Arkansas Safe Routes To School Program and the City of Cabot. The Magness Creek Property Owner's Association began working on the grant about seven years ago. After years of planning and proposing for this bridge to be installed, it became a reality!

Cabot Mayor Bill Cypert says the bridge is a win-win for everyone in the community.

Courtney Masters has two children at Magness Creek Elementary and lives in the Magness Creek North subdivision. She is excited the new bridge is in place and that she'll be able to walk her kids to school.
