Cabot High School To Host Stop the Bleed Training

August 7, 2017

Hundreds of Arkansas school nurses will be at Cabot High School, Wednesday, August 9th, learning important emergency response skills.

“Stop the Bleed” is a nationwide campaign to empower individuals to act quickly and save lives. If there is an emergency, no matter how rapid emergency responders get there, bystanders will always be first on scene. A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss in five minutes so it's important to know how to quickly stop the blood loss to save lives.

School nurses will be trained on how to apply direct pressure, tourniquets, wound packing, and torso trauma. Once they learn these skills, they can take it back to their schools and train faculty and staff.

Schools taking part in the program will also receive Bleeding Control Kits to place in their schools. Stop the Bleed Train-the-Trainer Courses are certified through the American College of Surgeons and is sponsored by Arkansas Children's Hospital, UAMS, Arkansas Department of Health, Arkansas Department of Education, MEMS, and many other organizations.

You can register on the morning of the event. It is free.
