CJHS Participates in Summer Cereal Drive
May 28, 2013
On Thursday, May 23, the Student Council of Cabot Junior High South concluded it's annual cereal drive. The purpose of the cereal drive is to make sure that no child goes hungry during the summer months.
In Central Arkansas, 25% of all children go hungry every day. The members of Student Council, sponsored by Mrs. Nancy Schafer, reached out to every student organization at CJHS to help collect cereal for this worthy cause.
Community members also contributed to help reach Student Council's goal of collecting 1,000 boxes of cereal. The collection was presented to Tom Brannon of Today's THV as he broadcast live from the gymnasium of CJHS to promote Today's THV Summer Cereal Drive.
Participating groups reported their collections during the broadcast. At the end of the broadcast, it was announced that South, along with generous community participation from Mr. Davenport of Price Cutter and a donation from Southern Bank, had collected 2,165 boxes!
Thanks to everyone who worked together to make sure no child in Central Arkansas has to go without a morning meal.
