Westside Elementary Named National Blue Ribbon School 2023

September 19, 2023

UPDATE: The district will hold a National Blue Ribbon School celebration for Westside Elementary after students return from Thanksgiving Break. This will allow administrators to attend the National Blue Ribbon School Recognition Ceremony in Washington, D.C. where each school will receive an award and National Blue Ribbon School flag to bring home.

The Cabot School District is proud to announce that Westside Elementary has been named a prestigious 2023 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education. This recognition is based on a school’s overall academic performance or progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups on assessments.

The U.S. Department of Education recognized 353 schools today which included Cabot's Westside Elementary School. Public schools are nominated for the award by the top education officials in each state.

Arkansas Secretary of Education Jacob Oliva stated, “We are proud of the National Blue Ribbon recognition three Arkansas schools received. These schools made great strides to demonstrate high performance or to close the achievement gap and deserve the national recognition they received today.”

Dr. Tony Thurman shared, "We are so proud of the faculty, staff, and students at Westside Elementary. This honor is a wonderful accomplishment for our school district and our community."

Westside Elementary Principal Frankie Glover expressed, “I am so proud of this achievement. Students and staff at Westside work extremely hard and deserve the recognition. Westside truly is the best side.”

Congratulations to the staff and students of Westside Elementary. We are Panther Proud of your National Blue Ribbon School achievement!
